The Department of Education (DepEd) is a government agency tasked to “protect and promote the right of every Filipino to quality, equitable, culture-based, and complete basic education.”

DepEd annually prepares the Multiyear Implementing Guidelines on the School Calendar and Activities to enable schools and community learning centers to effectively and efficiently implement school activities and maximize instructional time.

According to RA 7797, as amended by RA 11480, the School Year shall consist of not more than two hundred twenty (220) class days and shall start on the first Monday of June but not later than the last day of August.

The School Calendar shall apply to all public elementary and secondary schools, including CLCs.
