Metallurgical Engineers Licensure Examination Guide and Results
The Philippines’ Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) administers the Metallurgical Engineers Licensure Examination (MELE) as way to verify the competence of the country’s BSMetE graduates and find truly competent individuals who will be provided with license to practice the profession.
BSMetE refers to Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering. It is a course that involves the teaching and practice of physical and/or chemical processing and treatment of metals from ores to achieve properties required for their application.
Each BSMetE graduate in the country needs to take the licensure examination to get a license from the government. This license shall serve as proof that they have proven their competence in a national assessment, and thus on the official list of government’s professionals in the field.
If you are going to take examinations from PRC such as MELE, a strong determination and painstaking review is required. Think of the sleepless nights you’ve done to memorize and analyze principles on chemistry, physics, calculus, engineering, geology and others – you need to re-study those in a shorter span of time.
Conduct of the MELE is anchored on the PRC Modernization Act of 2020 (RA 8981), a law that modernizes the PRC. The law seeks to improve professional standards and regulation by empowering the PRC to conduct and administer licensure exams, regulate professions, and ensure the integrity of the licensing process.
The Metallurgical Engineers’ licensure exam covers the following topics: power plant engineering (35%), mathematics (35%), and machine design, materials and shop practice (30%).
In this webpage, we are going to explore more about the Metallurgical Engineers Licensure Examination (MELE), guide and results, including strategies to top the board.
