School Leaders Extol 72 Years Old Aklanon for Finishing Senior High – Perseverance, Age is Just a Number

Would old age be a hindrance for not pursuing studies, forever giving up on that diploma dream?

Well, not for Tatay Rodrigo.

Age Does Not Matter on Achieving Educational Goals

Age is not important in finishing studies because learning is a lifelong process. Education should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, as it provides opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and self-improvement.

Whether you’re a child or an adult, the desire to learn and the determination to achieve educational goals are what truly matter.

Many people pursue studies later in life for various reasons—career changes, personal fulfillment, or the need to adapt to evolving job markets.

The pursuit of knowledge is a personal journey, and age should never be a barrier to reaching one’s educational aspirations. Education empowers individuals, regardless of age, to improve their quality of life, contribute to society, and inspire others with their commitment to learning.

72-year-old Aklanon Finishes Senior High

Just like the seventy-two-year-old Nicolas “Rody” Sucgang, a resident of Batan, Aklan, proved that “Age is just a number” after marching on stage to receive his Senior High School diploma.

According to a Facebook post by Teacher Carmen Selorio, individuals like Nicolas, who is under the TVL Track, Agri-Fishery Arts Strand specializing in Aquaculture at Napti Integrated School, are truly inspiring.

“Age is just a number… for education it doesn’t matter,” it can be read in her caption.

Principal Commends Perseverance of Old Man

In an interview with Evan C. Regalado, the principal of the school, he shared that Nicolas truly demonstrated perseverance in completing his studies.

“Nong Rudy, as we fondly called him, is a former student of Kalantiaw Institute who wants to pursue his studies in senior high school,” he said.

“He really wants to finish his secondary education. I endorsed him to his present adviser, ma’am Erra M. Dalida, teacher adviser of grade 12. He diligently attended to his studies,” he added.
